Lucas Marcet Recolons

What is your background?

I recently graduated as a Chemical Engineer from Barcelona, Spain. Wanting to push myself further in my professional journey, I stepped out of my comfort zone and moved to Stockholm to pursue a Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering for Energy and Environment at KTH. I am making the most out of this exciting opportunity to broaden my skills and knowledge!

What is your previous work experience?
Throughout my bachelor’s degree, I had the privilege of engaging in two enriching internships at AkzoNobel. In my initial internship, I closely collaborated with the Engineering and Maintenance department, solving daily operational challenges and participating in ongoing projects at the site. Subsequently, during my second internship, I conducted my Bachelor’s thesis there, entitled “Energy Optimization: Expanding the Photovoltaic Installation and Surplus Management.” Additionally, I have worked as a personal tutor with students aged 12 to 17.

What is your idea of perfect happiness?
In my opinion, happiness goes beyond momentary pleasures, it is a state of mind where there is a good balance between all the aspects of life: personal relationships, work, psychological and physical health, etc. For our daily life, happiness is a decision. It is about how we deal with the difficulties we encounter, the ability to see the bigger picture and relativise. It is about feeling fulfilled and satisfied with our actions. Being aware that life is not easy neither fair, but at the same time, being optimistic and proactively working for what you want.

Which living person do you most admire?
I admire Carlos Alcaraz. He is a young yet highly talented tennis star, born in 2003 in Murcia, Spain. His achievements at his young age talk for themselves, but little do we know about the discipline, hard work and determination that is behind all the medals. He knows what he wants and fights to make it come true while having an admirable work ethic and humility.

Which words or phrases do you most overuse?

  • How are you doing? 😊
  • Let’s do it!

Which historical figure do you most identify with?
Jacques Cousteau (1910-1997) was a French naval officer, explorer, and filmmaker who dedicated his life to studying and raising awareness about marine life and ocean conservation. His passion and tireless efforts inspired a global appreciation for the oceans and the need to protect marine ecosystems. I feel identified with him not only because I am a diver and a sea lover, but also because of his adventurous spirit, curiosity, hard work, and passion. He fought for what he stood for, raising environmental awareness worldwide. I cannot even start to compare myself to him, but I also aim to drive real change.

What is your motto?
Hard work pays off.
