Cecilie is a Research Associate at the University of Manchester (MIOIR and MIB), where she researches the effects of the intersection between Responsible Innovation, Sustainability and Commercialisation. She is a social science researcher with varied expertise in Science and Technology Studies (STS), Responsible Innovation and Design Thinking. Having begun her professional career as a biochemist in Berlin, she trained in Design Thinking at the HPI Potsdam (Germany) to become a freelance facilitator and co-founder of the consultancy INNOKI. Longing back to her academic roots, she subsequently worked for several years as facilitator and educator in innovation and entrepreneurship at the Unit for Bioentrepreneurship, Karolinska Institutet (Sweden). She did her PhD in Science and Technology Studies at University College London (UCL). While finalising her PhD she was also employed as lecturer in Science Communication at the Department of Science and Technology Studies at UCL.
She came to Stockholm with the ambition of transforming the life science and healthcare field and unlocking its innovative potential. With extensive experience backing her she has dedicated her work to inspire students and professionals to expand their understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship through theory (social sciences, policy, responsible innovation) to ensure these are centred around care for humans and our earth.
