Professor Astrid Söderbergh Widding has been the Vice Chancellor of Stockholm University (SU) since 2013. She is a professor of Cinema Studies and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Stockholm University and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Aesthetics & Culture.
Astrid received her PhD in Cinema Studies at Stockholm University in 1992 with a dissertation on Andrei Tarkovsky. She is a Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Letters, History and Antiquities and serves as Chair of the Ingmar Bergman Foundation as well as Chair of the Centre for Fashion Studies, Stockholm University. Furthermore, Astrid is a Board member of the Swedish Fulbright Commission, of King Gustaf VI Adolf’s Fund for Swedish Culture and of the Filmform Foundation.
