About the Role
As an SSES Course Assistant, you will support the successful delivery of SSES courses by assisting faculty and students with course-related tasks.
This role is ideal for students who are organised, proactive, and interested in gaining hands-on experience in course coordination and administration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Student & Faculty Support – Act as a point of contact for students, helping with questions and course-related communication.
- Digital Platforms – Support faculty with course management tools such as Canvas.
- General Administration – Help track assignments, manage attendance, and support the smooth running of the course.
Who We Are Looking For:
- Full-time BSc or MSc students at an SSES member university during the 2025–2026 academic year.
- Detail-oriented and well-organised individuals with strong communication skills (English required, Swedish not necessary).
- Tech-savvy candidates who are comfortable using digital platforms and learning new tools.
- Proactive problem-solvers who can work independently and as part of a team.
Workload & Compensation:
- The workload varies but typically ranges between 6 to 10 hours per week.
- Requires evening availability twice a week, typically between 17:00 – 20:00.
- This is a paid position, with compensation details provided during the interview process.

- 1-Hour Live Interview (Stockholm) – In-person interview for shortlisted candidates.

1. Am I eligible to apply?
You must be a full-time student (BSc or MSc) at an SSES member university during the 2025–2026 academic year. Unfortunately, graduates or students from non-member universities are not eligible.
2. Can I apply if I will graduate during the academic year?
If you will be a full-time student for at least one semester in 2025–2026, you are still eligible to apply.
3. How many hours per week does the role require?
The workload varies depending on the course but typically ranges from 6 to 10 hours per week. Some weeks may be busier, while others are lighter.
4. Does the role require evening work?
Yes, Course Assistants are expected to be available twice a week in the evenings, typically between 17:00 – 20:00.
5. Will I be assigned to one course or multiple courses?
Course Assistants are usually assigned to one course at a time.
6. Is this a paid position?
Yes, this is a paid position. Compensation details will be shared during the interview process.
7. What kind of tasks will I be doing?
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting course logistics (e.g., preparing materials, assisting instructors)
- Communicating with students and faculty
- Managing online course platforms (e.g., Canvas)
- Handling administrative tasks related to the course
8. Can I apply if I am studying abroad for part of the year?
You must be physically in Stockholm for in-person course activities and support. If you will be abroad for a significant portion of the year, the role may not be suitable.
9. What happens if I have exams during course assistant hours?
We understand that academics come first. While evening work is expected, schedules can sometimes be adjusted in coordination with faculty and the SFS team if conflicts arise.
10. Is prior experience required?
No prior experience is required, but we value candidates who are organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and strong communicators. Experience with administrative tasks, digital tools, or teaching support is a plus.
11. Will I receive training for this role?
Yes! Course Assistants receive onboarding and guidance to help them get familiar with their tasks and responsibilities. The SFS team is always available for support.
12. How flexible is the schedule beyond the evening work requirement?
Outside of the required evening sessions, many tasks can be completed at flexible times in coordination with the course instructor.
13. Are there opportunities to continue the role beyond one academic year?
Yes! If you perform well and remain eligible, you may be able to continue as a Course Assistant for future semesters.
14. Do I need to be in Stockholm for this role, or can I work remotely?
Some tasks can be done remotely, but you must be based in Stockholm.
