The death of business models occurred in January 2004 when Alexander Osterwalder defended his dissertation which sparked “the business model canvas movement”. The canvas and lean models became the dominant tools in the global startup world and, argues Terrence Brown, subsequently killed much of the conceptual development on business models, and deep thinking on venture creation.
During this lecture Brown will address questions like:
- Has the canvas won the battle or the entire war?
- Can we move forward, and if so how?
- Are there other methods one can use to start a business?
