Since 2000 a scholarship has been awarded for Female Economist of the Year to “recognize academic excellence and outstanding ambition while promoting future women leaders in Swedish business”. This year’s scholarship holder, Saana Azzam, has taken Ideation, an SSES course, and participated in Negotiations and Bargaining, a Weekend Workshop event.
Saana, have your studies at SSES been useful?
– I have participated in an SSES-course about entrepreneurship as well as various workshops where they provide practical training in, amongst other things, negotiations, pitching, job applications and interview techniques. It has been enormously instructive. I have had very good and inspirational lecturers that have provided constructive feedback on all the cases and exercises we did. I really feel better equipped for a career after the course. The studies at the Stockholm School of Economics have provided me with good academic knowledge and SSES has developed and polished skills that are important when in the workforce.
Who would you suggest should participate in educational studies through SSES?
– I would recommend that everybody who has an opportunity to participate in an SSES course, to definitely do so. You get an opportunity to test different techniques and ideas in a secure environment and get feedback from very competent lecturers. You also meet a lot of interesting and enterprising people throughout the course. The lecturers are enormously helpful and even today I get suggestions and advice when needed. It is a worthwhile investment that is great fun at the same time!
