This year the Torsten and Wanja Söderbergs prize, worth 1 million SEK, has been awarded to the design group Front. The members of Front are SSES alumni students Anna Lindgren, Sofia Lagerkvist and Charlotte von der Lancken. Anna, Sofia and Charlotte began working together in 2004 whilst studying at Konstfack.
About Front
The members work together as a group where everybody is involved in the design process from initial discussions and ideas to the final product. Front’s works are based on common discussions, explorations and investigations about different topics.
The final products often communicate a story to the observer about the design process, about conventions within the product field or about the material itself. Since the group formed in 2004 they have created a collection of furniture design with the assistance of animals, a collection of products where part of the design was determined by external factors, a constantly changing interior, an investigation about the other functions of products and products which only exist in a computer game.
