Once you have a business idea you most often need to plan for execution. Planning is our business plan course. It guides you through a business development process making sure you miss nothing.
Ending up with a solid business plan Planning leads students' business ideas through a business development process. Taking into account marketing, financial, technical and organisational issues the course aims to construct viable and feasible business plans for projects in any industry and business. You are not required to start a business, although plenty businesses have been started here.
Last, but not least, Planning is our main recruitment ground for identifying teams to represent us at international business plan competitions.
Intended learning outcomes
After this course you should be able to:
- identify a feasible business idea
- perform a market analysis of a business idea
- discuss and critically assess the necessary steps for realizing a business idea
- develop and write a complete business plan
- demonstrate key skill sets for starting a venture
- use advanced models for business process analysis
- develop and argue for a complete business model.
Structure
In order for you as a student to be able to take SSES courses they are all scheduled after your daily classes (or workday), with some margin time to ensure you can commute to campus, pick up a coffee and arrive on time.
This course runs on Mondays and Wednesdays in two to three hour sessions for some seven weeks, but for a detailed timing check out the schedule in the box to the right. Teaching will incorporate lectures, debates, and exercises, as well as presentation from leaders in the field.

Gregg Vanourek
Course Director
Gregg Vanourek is an author and expert in the fields of leadership, entrepreneurship, and personal development. He has co-authored two books (including LIFE Entrepreneurs), with a new one in the works. He serves as Adjunct Faculty at the Royal Institute of Technology as part of the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship consortium and Teaching Mentor with Metizo. Recently, he was Adjunct Faculty for the Euromed School of Management, the University of Denver, and Colorado Mountain College. Vanourek founded Far Horizon and co-founded New Mountain Ventures. Before that, he served as SVP at K12 Inc., VP at the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation, and Research Fellow at the Hudson Institute. Vanourek is a featured speaker in the U.S. and Europe. Vanourek holds an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management, M.Sc. from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and B.A. from Claremont McKenna College.
Terrence Brown
Centre Director & Course Director, KTH
Dr. Terrence Brown is a writer, researcher, consultant, entrepreneur and lecturer on creating value. He is also the former Dean of the Stockholm School of Entrepreneurship and an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Royal Institute of Technology. He is currently the Head of the Royal Institute of Technology’s department of Business Development and Entrepreneurship.
Terrence is the founder of Cogeneration, the next step in new venture creation, Startup Academy, an offline/online institution providing content and education to entrepreneurs and new venture investors and growthstrategies, a growth agency that specialises in helping to grow companies by creating and developing uncommon opportunities.
Terrence holds an MBA in Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA in Organizational Management and a Doctorate in Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy from Rutgers University. Furthermore, he is the founding editor in chief of the International Journal of Entrepreneurial Venturing, which is double-blind, peer reviewed journal focusing on entrepreneurship.
